PSLE Math 2016 Paper 2 Question 14

(a) Ans: 150

1/5 = 3/15
2/3 = 10/15
2u → 30
1u → 30 ÷ 2 = 15
10u → 15 × 10 = 150 (total value for 18 boxes)

(b) Ans: 11

Assume all boxes contained 12 pies → 18 × 12 = 216
Total diff → 216 - 150 = 66
Each diff → 12 - 6 = 6
Divide → 66 ÷ 6 = 11
Opposite → 11 boxes of 6 pies
