PSLE Math 2020 Paper 2 Question 5

Geometry notes with shaded area calculations and rectangle dimensions; useful for Primary 5/6 Math and PSLE area and perimeter revision.

Ans: 300 cm^2

5 x 4 = 20
Top half -> 3/5 x 20u = 12u
Bottom half -> 1/2 x 20u =10u

22u -> 165
1u -> 165 ÷ 22 = 7.5
40u -> 7.5 x 40 = 300

OR

1/2 x 3/5 = 3/10 shaded (top)
1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4 shaded (bottom)
total shaded -> 3/10 + 1/4 = 11/20
11/20 -> 165
1/20 -> 165 ÷ 11 = 15
20/20 -> 15 x 20 = 300
