PSLE Math 2021 Paper 2 Question 12

Answers for a Primary School Maths Geometry question solved by a Primary School Maths tutor

a) Ans: 11cm
2u → 4cm
1u → 4 ÷ 2 = 2cm
AB → 13cm - 2cm = 11cm

b) Ans: 57cm^2
Area of unshaded triangle → 1/2 × 14 × 11 = 77cm^2
Area of rectangle 2 → 2 × 10 = 20cm^2
Area of rectangle 3 → 4 × 7 = 28cm^2
Area of shaded area → (13 × 14) - 77 - 20 - 28 = 57cm^2

OR

Whole figure → (2 × 3) + (4 × 6) + (8 × 13) = 134cm^2
Shaded area → 134 - (1/2 × 14 × 11) = 57cm^2
