(Volume and Height of Tank X and Tank Y Question)

PSLE Math 2022 Paper 2 Question 14

A diagram illustrating the measurement and volume calculations of water in two rectangular containers with dimensions. The first container is labeled X and has a volume of 7200 cubic centimeters. The second container is labeled Y, with a total water volume of 9720 cubic centimeters, and measures 32 centimeters in height.

a) Ans: 7200cm^3
1/5 of water in X -> 15 x 12 x 8 = 1440
Water in X -> 1440 x 5 = 7200

b) Ans: 32cm
Water in Y (at first) -> 15 x 12 x 14 = 2520
Total water -> 2520 + 7200 = 9720
Vol of X -> 9720 – 120 = 9600
Height of X -> 9600 ÷ (20 x 15) = 32
