PSLE Math 2023 Paper 2 Question 12

Illustration explaining how to find the area of shaded parts in overlapping circles, with diagrams and handwritten notes in blue and purple ink.

Diameter = 7cm x 2 = 14cm
a) Perimeter of shaded part = circumference of 3 circles
    = (227 x 14cm) x 3
    = 132cm

b) Using the cut-and-paste:
Area of shaded part = (14cm x 14cm) x2
        = 392cm^2 + 154cm^2
        = 546cm^2
