PSLE Math 2023 Paper 2 Question 14

Handwritten notes and diagrams explaining the calculation of the percentage of postcards in a collection, including formulas, steps, and final result of 12.5%.

a) Postcards → 30% of his collection
Magnets → 57 more than postcards → 57 + 30% of the collection
Badges → 85

40% → 51 + 85 = 136
30% → 13/640 x 30/1 = 102

b) no.of postcards given away = decrease in total collection
total no. of items → 102 + 102 + 51 + 85 = 340
no. of postcards given away = 20% x 340
          = 20/100 x 340
          = 68
percentage of postcards in the end = postcards (end)/new total x 100%
      = (102-68)/(340-68) x 100%               = 34/272 x 100%
        = 12.5%
