PSLE Math 2023 Paper 2 Question 17

Diagram showing the parts of a larger shape divided into smaller geometric components, with annotations and calculations involving perimeters
Handwritten notes with diagrams of a triangle and rectangle, calculations of areas, and length measurements, including blue, purple, and black ink.

a) Perimeter of figure 2 = 204cm
Perimeter of 3 figure 1 = 96cm x 3
= 288cm
PQ = (288cm - 204cm) ÷ 4
  = 84cm ÷ 4
= 21cm

b) Area of 2 such trapeziums = Area of 1 rectangle
Area of 2 trapeziums = 1932cm^2 ÷ 2
      = 966cm^2
Length of rectangle = 966cm^2 ÷ 21cm
  = 46cm
Length of RS = 46cm - 21cm - 21cm
= 13cm
